Footagevault.com is a unique online film archive, principally consisting of space footage taken from public (but often hidden) archives in the USA, Europe and Russia.
Footagevault provides a fully online service, enabling users to search, preview and order clips through the website, and (depending on the format required) download them from secure servers.
GovEd Communications has provided on-going strategic, business planning and marketing support to the Footagevault team. Now we have helped to establish a new Footagevault Schools Subscription service, which allows schools to access the entire database of 3000 clips and download them for use in presentations, computer-based resources and in other educational uses.

Footagevault (www.footagevault.com) is the largest collection of space archive material available online, and offers a rich, diverse and versatile resource for supporting teaching and learning, research and career choices in science, engineering, technology and maths.
Footagevault has meta-tagged this content with unprecedented detail and created an easily searchable system with comprehensive descriptive information accompanying each clip.
A growing number of educational organisations are using Footagevault material for computer-based resources, whiteboard presentations, whole-school talks, lesson starters and in other ways. These user include schools involved in the SSAT/STFC-funded ‘Leading Space Education Programme', and organisations directly involved with International Year of Astronomy. In addition, a number of professional science presenters have used Footagevault material extensively in educational talks, and a number of exam boards have also explored the use of Footagevault material to support the Astronomy GCSE and other science curricula.
Footagevault's existing clients also include the BBC, Discovery Channel and Film 4. The resulting film and television projects have also been used as alternative teaching resources for addressing challenging subjects. Through a partnership with GovEd Communications, Footagevault is continuing to collate examples of usage in educational settings in order to formulate a comprehensive selection of example work sheets and lesson plans, and to create linked ‘packages' of clips.
